Jigme Lingpa in the West

Jigme Lingpa – With Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (the foremost incarnation of Jigme Lingpa (currently Dzongsar Khenstse Rinpoche) being one of the two main gurus of Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche it is no wonder that the Longchen Nyingthik (vast expanse heart essence) teachings are featured at many of our retreats. From Yeshe Lama to our summer shedra using as the main text, Treasury of Precious Qualities by Jigme Lingpa that outlines the stages of the whole Buddhist Path and many other retreats covering different subjects. Jigme Lingpa was more then just a fully realized master who revealed and expounded upon the 9th century teachings of Guru Rinpoche and the Indian masters. He was also responsible for the flourishing of the Nyingma School and all schools of Buddhism in countless and almost inconceivable ways. Born in the 18th century, his lineage of teachings and instructions have been passed down in an unbroken pure lineage to Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche. Making our retreats potent and effective as dharma continues to be planted in the west. Like many of us, Jigme Lingpa was a non monastic and chose the path of a yogi. The photo is of the 14 volume Derge edition of Jigme Lingpa’s collected works on a table at Rabjam Rinpoche’s seat at Shechen Monastery Kathmandu, Nepal.
